Bei der World Series of Poker (WSOP) darf natürlich das $1.000 Ladies Event nicht fehlen. Mit 936 waren deutlich weniger als noch im letzten Jahr am Start. Einige Männer hatten sich auch wieder ins Ladies-Event verirrt. Mit dem Platzen der Bubble ging der erste Tag zu Ende, alle haben $1.601 sicher. Die Siegerin darf sich auf $170.587 freuen.
Gar nicht viele deutsche Ladies waren am Start – Lenka Hein, Johanna Hupfer, Jessica Matthaus, Heike Messerschmidt, Maxi Müller, Heike Wessell, Barbara Friedl, Silke Pecho. Ein paar mehr bekannte Gesichter gab es mit Vicky Coren, Leo Margets, Erica Schoenberg, Maridu Mayrinck, Melanie Weisner, Tiffany Michelle, JJ Liu, Kristy Arnett, Kathy Liebert, Jennifer Leigh, Vanessa Rouuso, Maya Antonius, Jennifer Tilly, Maria Ho, Vanessa Selbst und auch Marsha Waggoner und Barbara Enright sowie Wendeen Eolis.
Johanna Hupfer ließ es sich nicht nehmen, an ihrem Hochzeitstag das Ladies Event zu spielen, während Ehemann Alex Stark an der Rail mitfieberte. Er hielt alle auch über Facebook am Laufenden. Und da kam dann die Meldung „Leider raus auf Platz 243 🙁 99 müsste halt mal halten gegen QJ“. Damit verpasste Johanna ebenso wie viele andere die Geldränge. Maya Antonius verabschiedete sich mit 
gegen Queens, Jennifer Tilly hatte schon früh Feierabend. Vanessa Rousso nahm ihr Ausscheiden mit Humor: So my strategy to get drunk and crush the ladies event only half succeeded!! 😉 #drunkandbusto . Auch Marsha Waggoner, Wendeen Eolis, Barbara Enright, Kristy Arnett, Maria Ho, Liv Boeree sowie Vanessa Selbst landeten ebenfalls auf der Bustout Liste.
Älteste Teilnehmerin war Gertrude Schimmel, eine 94jährige ehemalige Polizeibeamtin aus New York. 1998 erzielte sie ihr bestes Ergebnis, als sie Vierte wurde. Und eigentlich mag sie Seven Card Stud lieber, aber sie lässt es sich dennoch nicht nehmen, alljährlich beim WSOP Ladies Event anzutreten.
Als Level 10 schon fast vorbei war, kratzte man auch schon an den 117 Geldrängen. Zehn Minuten vor Schluss war man auf der Bubble. Tatsächlich platzte die Bubble noch innerhalb dieser zehn Minuten. Mit dem gefloppten Flush schickte JJ Liu Halli Pinson mit zwei Paar nach Hause und die verbliebenen 117 waren im Geld.
