Am 23. Februar finden in Beverly Hills die dritten American Poker Awards statt. In insgesamt 18 Kategorien werden Preise vergeben. Zum ersten Mal auch an den besten Twitch-Streamer sowie den besten Poker-Podcast.
In vier Wochen lädt Mediarex, die Firma hinter dem Global Poker Index, zu den American Poker Awards 2017 in das Sofitel in Beverly Hills. 15 der Preise werden durch eine Jury bestimmt, wobei im Vorfeld in jeder Kategorie vier Nominierungen annonciert werden.
Drei Gewinner sind bereits bekannt. So haben sich Jason Mercier (GPI World Series of Poker Player of the Year), David Peters (GPI Player of the Year) und Cate Hall (GPI Female Player of the Year) ihre Preise durch das Punktesystem des GPI gesichert.
Neu hinzugekommen sind Event of the Year, Mid-Major Circuit of the Year, Twitch Streamer of the Year, Podcast of the Year, der PocketFives Legacy Award sowie der Hendon Mob Award.
