Am 3. Mai finden in Monte Carlo die European Poker Awards statt. Fedor Holz ist Spieler des Jahres und in zwei weiteren Kategorien nominiert. Jeweils auf eine Nominierung kommen Rainer Kempe, Thomas Lamatsch und Edgar Stuchly.
Die European Poker Awards finden bereits zum 15. Mal statt, doch erst zum sechsten Mal in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Global Poker Index. In elf Kategorien werden Preise vergeben, wobei Player of the Year und Female Player of the Year durch das GPI Ranking bestimmt werden. Hier holt Liv Boeree zum zweiten Mal in Folge den Titel und Fedor Holz (Foto) beerbt Ole Schemion
Vor rund zwei Wochen startete die Nominierungsphase für die restlichen neun Kategorien und 62 ausgewählte Juroren durften ihre Vorschläge einreichen. Nun wurde die offizielle Liste der Nominierten bekannt gegeben.
Die deutschsprachige Poker-Community ist mehrfach vertreten. Fedor Holz ist als Breakout Player of the Year nominiert und hat mit seinem Sieg beim WPT Alpha8 Las Vegas auch Chancen auf die Tournament Performance of the Year.
Rainer Kempe wurde ebenfalls als Breakout Player of the Year nominiert. In der Kategorie Industry Person of the Year haben es fünf Personen, darunter Edgar Stuchly und Thomas Lamatsch, auf die Liste geschafft.
