Ein kurioser Deal zwischen der New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) und der Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC) soll illegales Online-Glücksspiel in den USA unterbinden.
Per Presseschreiben annoncierte die Regulierungsbehörde in New Jersey, dass man sich mit dem Mohawk Council of Kahnawake sowie der Kahnawake Gaming Commission einigte, gemeinsam an einem Strang zu ziehen.
Zusammengefasst geht es um Anbieter, die bei der KGC lizenziert sind, jedoch ohne Lizenz in den Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika operieren. Zentrale Figur in der Vereinbarung ist die Firma Continent 8 LLC.
Ein Großteil, wenn nicht sogar alle bei Seiten, die ihren Traffic über Continent 8 laufen lassen, sind bei der KGC lizenziert. Laut Presseschreiben soll nun verhindert werden, dass diese virtuellen Casinos und Online Poker Rooms nicht mehr US-Spieler bedienen dürfen.
Namentlich wird Bovada erwähnt, die erst vor wenigen Wochen ihren Rückzug aus den USA bekannt gaben. Die Meldung damals sorgte für viele Fragen- Bis heute ist unklar, wer hinter Ignition Casino steht oder ob der angebliche Verkauf, nur ein simples Rebranding ist.
Der Deal zwischen der KGC und der DGE scheint nicht weniger kurios. Zum einen ist die KGC in Kanada beheimatet, zum anderen hat die DGE keine wirklichen Rechte außerhalb der Bundesstaatsgrenzen.
Noch seltsamer ist die Tatsache, dass die KGC seit vielen Jahren fragwürdige Anbieter lizenziert, ohne sich für deren operative Geschäfte auf Schwarz- oder Graumärkten zu interessieren. Berühmtes Beispiel ist der Superuser Skandal bei UltimateBet, bei welchem die KGC alles andere als hilfreich war.
Kanadas Regierung bezeichnete die Geschäfte der KGC als illegal, doch die Souveränität der Ureinwohner garantiert Sonderrechte. Das Mohawk-Reservat in Québec ist de facto ein unabhängiger Staat und diesen verteidigen die Bewohner notfalls auch mit Waffengewalt.
Zu guter Letzt muss man noch erwähnen, dass Bovada sich bereits vor zwei Jahren aus New Jersey zurückzog. Der Deal tritt Ende September in Kraft, was genau mit dem Umzug von Bovada auf Ignition zusammenfällt. Ob andere Anbieter nach diesem Datum gesperrt werden, muss sich zeigen.

Atlantic City — The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) today announced that it has reached a series of agreements related to its licensee, Continent 8, LLC, that will prevent illegal Internet gaming websites from accepting bets from residents of the United States and New Jersey through a data center located on the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawake, Canada.
When DGE became aware that Continent 8, LLC, may have provided services to certain illegal Internet gaming websites through that data center, it took prompt action. After extensive discussions with the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake and the Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC) involving unique jurisdictional issues, the Division was able to ensure that any such websites originating from Kahnawake will no longer be available to United States residents in jurisdictions where these companies are not authorized to operate, after September 30, 2016.
As a result, sites such as Bovada, a leading provider of illegal online sports wagering and other online gaming content, will no longer be operating out of the data center located in
Kahnawake. Also after that date, the KGC will take regulatory action against any of its applicants or licensees found to be accepting such wagers.

We were able to reach a series of agreements that are amenable to all of the parties involved and satisfy the Division’s regulatory concerns.
