Die Poker Community hat bekanntlich eine Meinung zu allem und aktuell gibt es viel Kritik – an den Payouts des WSOP Main Events und auch an der Late Reg.
Die WSOP feiert mit 10.043 Teilnehmern nicht nur, dass endlich der Rekord aus 2006 übertroffen wurde, sondern eben auch die magische 10k Grenze überschritten werden konnte. Die Late Reg war bis Ende Level 7 (zwei Levels an den beiden Tagen 2) offen.
Vor allem Mike Matusow findet die lange Late Reg nicht gut:

Der Sportvergleich ist naheliegend, war aber schon oft ein Thema, dass Late Reg (oder bei anderen Turnieren die Re-Entry Option) eigentlich nicht im Sinne eines Turniers sind.
Can you imagine its masters golf tourney and tiger woods gets to enter on weekend with half players out and gets auto even par to start weekend? Thats what reging with 60bb is with 6k players out is! #WSOPMainEvent

Harsche Kritik von vielen Seiten gibt es bezüglich der Payouts. Das Rekordpreisgeld von Jamie Gold von $12.000.000 wird mit $12.100.000 übertroffen – aber auf wessen Kosten? Dass Platz 9 nicht mit $1.000.000 dotiert ist, stößt vielen auf:

If there were ever a tournament to have flatter payouts, it’s gotta be the main event.
For most of the field a few hundred thousand is life changing money and a couple million is hitting diminishing returns.
