Bwin.party digital entertainment hat die World Poker Tour (WPT) an Ourgame International Holdings Ltd verkauft. Die chinesische Firma legt $35 Millionen auf den Tisch.
Seit mehr als einem Monat kursiert das Gerücht, dass die World Poker Tour verkauft wurde. An diesem Wochenende wurde dann zum ersten Mal spekuliert, dass der Deal in trockenen Tüchern ist. Kurz darauf wurden die Details per Presseschreiben bekannt gegeben.
Ourgame International Holdings ist hierzulande kein bekannter Name. Der Hersteller für virtuelle Brett- und Kartenspiele ist jedoch der Marktführer in China und auch in anderen asiatischen Ländern sehr bekannt.
Bereits im Dezember letzten Jahres wurde eine Partnerschaft zwischen der Börse in Hongkong gelisteten Firma und der WPT annonciert. Damals ging es um Namensrechte für Ourgame, um Events der WPT National und der WPT Main Tour in Asien anbieten zu dürfen. Des weiteren ging es um den Vertrieb um Playmoney und Social Gaming Apps.
Dementsprechend wird sich die WPT zukünftig verstärkt auf den asiatischen Markt fokussieren. Spannend ist sicherlich, dass PartyPoker noch der Sponsor für die aktuelle Saison ist, die World Poker Tour danach jedoch auch mit anderen Poker Rooms kooperieren kann.
Die WPT ist nur eine Aktiva, die bwin.party digital entertainment zum Verkauf hat. Nachdem der Deal mit Ourgame am 25. Juni finalisiert werden soll, bleibt abzuwarten, ob diese Woche weitere Presseschreiben rund um einen Verkauf bringen wird.

Ourgame will pay $35 million in cash for World Poker Tour®, the premier name in internationally televised gaming and entertainment with brand presence in land-based tournaments, television, online, and mobile. The acquisition is being made on a debt-free, cash-free basis.
